Chevron Nigeria Limited, in collaboration with its joint venture partner, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), is offering a number of University Scholarships Awards to suitably qualified Nigerian students.

The Nyerere programme of the African support has received support under the Plan of Action for the implementation of the Framework for the Cooperation of the Africa-India Partnership, for special scholarships for Africans in the field of Agriculture, in the following areas:
1) Doctoral Degree in Agriculture
2) Master's Degree in Agriculture
1) Doctoral Degree in Agriculture
Under the programme, the Indian Government is offering 25 places to Africans in Indian Universities and Institutions, each year over a 4-year period. In this regard, the Commission of the African Union invites applications from prospective candidates who wish to undertake postgraduate studies at PhD level in any reputable Indian University/Institution in the 2010 academic year. An applicant should possess a Masters' degree with at least 3 years post graduation experience, and is not to exceeed 50 years of age.
The PhD programme must not exceed three years duration.
The Government of India will provide a stipend of 15,000 Indian Rupees/month, to cover tuition fee, hostel fee, mess, medical, contingency and travel within the country during the course. For joining the programme, the cost of air travel in economy class by the shortest possible route will be met by the Indian Government subject to the actual fare not exceeding 75,000 Indian Rupees.
2) Masters’ Degree in Agriculture
Under the programme, the indian Government is offering 50 places to Africans in Indian Universities and Institutions, each year over a 4-year. In this regard and for 2010, the Commission of the African Union invites applications from prospective candidates who wish to undertake postgraduate studies at the Masters' level in the field of Agriculture in a reputable Indian university/Institution. A typical applicant should possess at least a Second Class Upper Honours degree or its equivalent, with at least two years post graduation experience, and must not exceed 40 years of age.
The Masters programme must not exceed two years duration.
The Government of India will provide a stipend of 12,000 Indian Rupees/month, to cover tuition fee, hostel fee, mess, medical, contingency and travel within the country during the course. For joining the programme, the cost of air travel in economy class by the shortest possible route will be met by the Indian Government subject to the actual fare not exceeding 75,000 Indian Rupees.

The scholarship award is to allow graduates pursue study of benefit to the Muslim world.
Apart from the basic academic criteria for graduate studies, you must be able to show how your intended course of study is of relevance to the Muslim world.
The scholarship is strictly for graduate degrees and for all subjects, at full course duration. It is also intended for new students.
Apply at the same time as you apply to Oxford by selecting Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Scholarships in the Funding Section of the University's Graduate Application Form.

The International Peace Research Institute, Oslo and The Australian National University's Department of International Relations, in partnership with Bjørknes College, are offering a scholarship for Master of International Affairs Specialising in Peace and Conflict.
The program brings together academics at the forefront of international relations, peace, and conflict research from two sides of the globe. Students spend one semester at Bjørknes College in Norway with faculty from the International Peace Research Institute, Oslo (PRIO) pursuing courses in Conflict Resolution and Peace-Building, Ethics of Peace and War, and Gender and War. The international relations courses are taken at ANU in Canberra. Participants have full access to the specialist libraries of the Nobel Institute and PRIO.
The Oslo Peace Scholarship pays the tuition fee and provides a living allowance for both Oslo and Canberra. Full details available here.

The University of Nottingham offers 30 full tuition fees scholarship awards for up to three years of a research programme, subject to satisfactory progress.

The overall aim of Talent for Governance is to strengthen local governments in developing countries and Eastern European (non-EU) countries. This they aim to achieve through the training of young civil servants. With the gained knowledge and skills they can work to alleviate their communities of widespread poverty and a lack of basic services.
Important: Target group
The Talent for Governance scholarship target group consists of young (less than 37 years of age) civil servants working for local governments in developing countries or Eastern European (non –EU) countries. You are ambitious, motivated and dedicated to local governance. You have at least two years of work experience and will be working within a local government for at least two more years. You speak English fluently and find it easy to explain why you should be awarded a scholarship. They award aim to give at least 50% of available scholarships to women.
Important: Apply for the right training course
The Talent for Governance scholarships will make it possible for scholars to attend one of the practical trainings at The Hague Academy for Local Governance. When you apply for a scholarship, you need to be able to motivate which training would benefit them. You could go to the website of The Hague Academy for Local Governance to check out the training courses that are part of the scholarship programme 2010. On the scholarship application form below you need to indicate and, more importantly, motivate your choice of training thouroughly.
N.b: It is not necesary to also fill in the application form on the website of the Hague Academy for training course itself.

The Talent for Governance scholarship programme will be administered by The Hague Academy for Local Governance staff and monitored by the Talent for Governance Supervisory Board.
To apply, you need to fill in the online application form before the deadline for 2010, which is March 01, 2010.
The application will be screened on various criteria such as relevance, completeness, motivation and dissemination plan.
After the application deadline you will receive a first reaction from Talent for Governance within the following three weeks.
In the following round you will be asked to send in a signed document from a legal representative from your employer, that they agree with you applying for the scholarship and copies of a written work reference and your certificates or diplomas.
A telephone call will also be made to applicants to assess their English language speaking proficiency.
